Mother-Daughter Date

I've been wanting to take J to a move for a while and decided "The Incredibles 2" was an excellent choice. We saw an afternoon show, complete with popcorn and lemonade, in the Hilldale complex. The movie theatre is right across from Gigi's Cupcakes and I figured we could indulge in a sweet treat too. J was amazed when she remarked wistfully "I wish we could get a cupcake there" and I immediately said yes, that's where we were heading next.



On the way back home we passed an elementary school with a large playground full of unique fixtures. She said wistfully, "I wish we could stop there and play but I know we can't." Without saying a word I turned around. We approached it again and she repeated her earlier longing to go there. I parked and said "You're in luck. We are going there." "REALLY??!!"











We got home and she asked if I'd like to do an art project with her and since it had become a "Yes" day (and I'm a sucker for art projects), I said yes, of course.

Feminist moming #1-my invisible public service has ended

The girls and I were just a little excited that M’s city council term was finally over on Tuesday!! The girls decided to dress fancy and chose my clothes and accessories. Not pictured, the array of chocolate J put together for him, the beer I picked up in the most contactless way possible, dinner delivered from a local restaurant, K checking on him as he was banished to the deck while the preparations took place. J declared it “annual dad day” because the word “annual” sounded good even  though she didn’t know what it meant. There’s a reason volunteers and the civically engaged tend to be older and retired, from what I’ve observed. 1-3 evening meetings every week for 3.5 yrs. Most were 2-4 hrs each. Many were the first Mon of the month type ones, but there were lots of additional ones that came up with a week’s or few days’ notice.
